Jessica Leopizzo graduated from Central Connecticut State University with Bachelor Degrees in both Psychology and Dance and a Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. Jessica began dance at a young age, winning numerous awards as a competitive dancer and performing for prestigious events such as the Princess Diana Benefit Concert and the NAACP Martin Luther King Awards. She also performed in Disney World Paris, Disney World Orlando, and in dance festivals inside and outside of the country. After her competitive dance career, Jessica educated dancers at various studios, receiving several Top Teacher and Choreography Awards, her most recent won for Nutmeg in 2018. From 2002-2006, Jessica directed the dance teams and choreographed numerous musicals for both Wolcott and Bristol Central High School. She has been an active choreographer for and supporter of the Bristol Boys and Girls Club and several local churches. Jessica created the Angel Dance Project, which was performed throughout New England to raise money to end domestic violence, and the idance Project, which educated undergraduate students how to teach young dancers in the community. Jessica also has experience with the pageant industry, winning talent and first runner-ups for several years, as well as coaching contestants for various Miss USA pageants. She stays up-to-date on current dance trends by taking master classes with renowned artists like Mia Michaels, Mandy Moore, and tWitch, as well as attending Dance Life Retreat Conferences and Dance Teacher Summits. As an original member of Nutmeg’s competition team, Jessica is so proud to now be the artistic director of Nutmeg Performing Arts Center and to carry on the legacy of Nutmeg’s family friendly environment.
